| Cod
Atlantic cod is a valuable resource in Massachusetts that has been used as a food staple dating way back to the time when Europeans settled on the coast of New England. It has a mild flavored fish that is flaky and low in fat. Its color varies at certain depths but is generally gray-green and reddish brown.
Haddock
Haddock is a popular food fish found in the North Atlantic and widely fished commercially. It is a mildly flavorful white fish that is healthy to consume, full of protein and very little fat. The haddock is easily recognized by a black lateral line running along its white side and a characteristic "thumbprint" above the pectoral fin. Most haddock weigh in between 2 and 6 pounds.
Striped Bass (Striper)
Striped Bass also known as Striper are native to the Atlantic coastline of North America. This fish has a pinkish flesh and has a sweet distinctive flavor. It contains moderate far content. It is distinguished by six to eight horizontal black stripes running across its olive green to silver gray body. Striper generally weigh from 2 to 30 pounds but can get much larger.
Tuna
Tuna is a large, fast swimming member of the mackerel family found in temperate salt waters worldwide. They are generally blue or blue-black in color fading to silvery sides and bellies. The full-flavored meat of the tuna ranges from pink to red which lightens when cooked. It contains a moderate amount of fat which can make it a little oily. Tuna is widely popular in sushi and is most often cooked on the rare side.
Bluefish
Bluefish, with their fierce appetite, are a popular target for sport fisherman. The meat is rich and fatty which is mild in flavor on the day of the catch but can intensify after a day or two. Bluefish is grayish blue-green dorsally fading to white down the sides. Its teeth are knife edged and sharp.
Shark
Sharks are actually an ancient creature that lived on this earth over 450 million years ago. There are several species of shark and depending on the variety they can have from 5 to 15 rows of teeth. Unlike bony fish, sharks have no bones. Their skeleton is made of cartilage, a tough, fibrous substance not nearly as hard as bone. Fully grown sharks can range in size form 7 inches to 50 feet. Sharks are a relatively intelligent fish which makes them great for sportfishing. We fish for Mako, Poor Beagle, Blue Sharks, and Mister Whitey.
Flounder
Flounder is a thin, flat fish that swims on one side with both eyes located on the side that faces up. The meat has a lean mild flavor and skin is edible. The flounder camouflages itself on the floor of the ocean to protect itself from predators.
